“והגדת לבנך”

“מצווה עלינו לספר ביציאת מצרים” ואני חושבת מצווה עלינו לספר על הזוועות שעברו אבותינו במלחמת העולם השניה. לחזור ולספר כי הסיפורים הם בלתי נתפסים ומספרם של הניצולים הולכים ומתמעטים מידי יום ביומו.

כל יום שומעים על עוד  דברים שלא ידענו. עדויות ללא סוף.

ומצד שני הרבה מעשי גבורה.

קראתי בעיתון ידיעות אחרונות בשבת את סיפורו של הזמר עברי לידר ומסע השורשים שלו  עם אימו ואחיו. לראשונה בחייו נסעה כל המשפחה יחדיו, דבר שלא עשו מעולם. אימו בת 4 הוחזקה במחסן תת קרקעי . הסיפור המזעזע איך אביה שלח אותה בשק תבן על גג כרכרה והזהיר אותה – כן את בת ה-4 שלא תפצה פה כל הדרך. היא הבינה ונמסרה למשפחה שקיבלה כסף יפה עבורה.

בשנה האחרונה יצא לי לבקר בספרד בפירינאים ועברתי בישובים שבגבול בהם

עברו הפליטים היהודים מאימת הנאצים למדינה שתקבל אותם ואולי יגיעו בדרך לא דרך למדינת ישראל.

על כל העיירות ששימשו לפליטים יהודים שחצו את הגבול מצרפת לספרד באיזור זה של הפירינאים קראתי בעת ההכנה לטיול, ושמעתי על הטיול המופלא של בנצי כץ לאיזור. וכן מידע מיונית אבני על המקומות האלה.

PYRENEAN ROUTE: VAL D'ARAN (+Info) The Val d'Aran was the main entry point for refugees from the French departments of Haute-Garonne and Ariège. Until 1941, the customs office at Pont de Rei was the point of arrival for those seeking to enter Spain with all their papers in order. Later on, those escaping to Spain mainly used the mountain passes that led to Les, Canejan, Bossòst, Es Bòrdes and Montgarri. The parts of Aran that played relevant roles in the movements and stays of these refugees have now been signposted: Pont de Rei, Les, Es Bòrdes, Vielha, the tunnel of Vielha, the Bonaigua pass and Montgarri.

The town of Vileha and the village of Les became points of reference for all Jews seeking to cross the Val d'Aran.

In fact, the village of Sort had two prisons: one for men and another for women. Both were located in the Plaça Sant Eloi square and both were relatively small.

It has been documented that between 1939 and 1940 at least 2,660 refugees passed through these small prisons.

Between 1939 and 1944, the women's prison received about fifty prisoners. On the other hand, the Hotel Pessets played a significant role as a place of rest for Jews fleeing from northern Europe during the Second World War. Many of the bills for hotel stays were charged to the Dutch consulate in Barcelona and the American Joint Distribution Committee. The former related to the stays of Jews with Dutch nationality, while the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee paid for those of Jews who were originally from countries such as Poland, Germany and Austria and who were considered “stateless

BOSSÒST

Bossòst received hundreds of people who had been detained while trying to secretly cross the Pyrenees. Most of them had begun their journeys in Luchon, crossing the French-Spanish frontier via the Eth Portilhon pass.

טיילתי בנופים הקסומים של האיזור וכל העת דמיינתי איך עברו כאן היהודים. לעיתים עם נעליים בלויות, לעיתים ללא נעליים בכלל. לעיתים עם מעיל ולעיתים קופאים מקור עם סוודר דק.
